Abstract

This study is designed to make an analysis of the contents of dental radiology practices for prospective dental hygienists, to determine differences among results and to provide basic materials for more effective dental radiology practices.
The subjects were composed of 75 students attending J school by day and 35 students going to J school by night and the researcher made use of self-directed questionnaires regarding dental radiology practices.
All the analyses of the questionnaires were made at a significant level of ¥á=.05 with the help of SPSS 10.0 for windows.
1.The part that the subjects find hardest in reading anatomical landmarks turned out to be maxillary arch cuspid regions and mandibular arch molar region.
2.The most difficult part of bisection of the angle technique was to adjust vertical and horizontal angles and the most difficult dental parts were maxillary arch ¡¤ mandibular arch cuspid.
3.The most difficult thing of the paralleling technique was to place films in dental parts(P<.001), and the most hardest dental parts were maxillary arch ¡¤ mandibular arch (P<.01).
4.The technical difficulties in bite wing exposures was to put the wings of films on occusal surface and to fix it and the most difficult dental parts was molar bite wing exposure.
5.Difficulties in the occusal technique lay in placing films and cone, and the most difficult dental part was cross-section occusal view of the mandibular arch (P<.01).
6.Difficulties in panoramic radiography and cephalometric radiography were to maintain the position of the patients.
7.The five most common errors in technique was elongation (P<.05).
